What is Floating?

Floating is letting go of all your senses… resting your body; exploring your mind and soul.

The special Epsom salts in the heated water produce an effect like the Dead Sea, so you effortlessly remain afloat on the surface. The water is kept warm at a steady body temperature. After a few minutes you lose sense of which parts of your body are enveloped by water, and which aren’t.

The tranquility, the steady warmth and the absence of gravity make you feel like you are floating in space. By giving yourself a break from the endless input of sensory experiences, your mind has a chance to recharge, rest, and emerge to face the world with renewed perspective and energy.

Empty your Mind for a Little While

When you have a float session you step into a tank specially designed to block out all external stimuli. Your mind and body are no longer distracted by factors governing the outside environment, such as noise, changes in temperature, visual stimuli and gravity.

Once immersed in your own private floating space you will quickly realize that you need nothing else. Experience relaxation that goes deeper than anything you’ve previously experienced!

Reap the Benefits of doing Nothing

Floating is the most effective way of relaxing and reducing stress. A lot of research has been carried out over the last thirty years or more on the positive effects of floating.

It is now also used as a method of treatment for a variety of ailments, pain and illnesses. Most effects are, furthermore, accumulative, so the more often you float, the greater the benefits.

Preparation

As a guest of our B&B, you need to bring nothing for your float session and you will benefit from discounted rates, for sessions of 60 or 90 minutes. We will provide robes and towels. Showering before and after floating is required. We recommend that prior to floating you have had enough to eat, but not too much. We recommend you do not drink coffee, alcohol or other drugs before your float session.

Please refrain from shaving or depilating several hours before floating, because of the salt content in the water. (Salt may sting.)

We do not recommend you float with significantly damaged skin that has not healed over yet. Little wounds are OK and can be covered with Vaseline which is provided free of charge.

Freshly dyed hair can taint the water inside the cabin. Therefore we do not recommend floating with hair that has just been dyed. Example: if your hair gives off color when you dry it with a towel then you cannot float.
